What is Trilo? The try-before-you-commit way into kids activities

Every term, thousands of Auckland families sign their kids up for an activity, pay the full term fee up front, and cross their fingers. By week two or three, plenty of those kids have decided basketball is not for them, or the drama class was scarier than it looked, or they would honestly rather be doing gymnastics.

The term fee does not care. It has already been paid.

Trilo exists to fix exactly that. The name says it: Try + Lo. Low risk, low commitment, low price.

How Trilo works

  1. Browse real Auckland activities. Sports clubs, music teachers, arts programmes, outdoor groups. Every listing shows class times, ages, location and the trial price up front.
  2. Book a 3-session trial pack. Instead of a full term, you buy three sessions at a discounted rate. You pick the class time that fits your week and pay online in a couple of minutes.
  3. Let your kid actually try it. Three real sessions with the real coach and the real group. Enough time for the nerves to wear off and a genuine opinion to form.
  4. Decide later. If your child loves it, carry on with the provider directly for the term. If not, you are done. No awkward conversation, no wasted term fee.
Where does the trial happen? At the provider's normal venue, inside their normal classes. Trilo kids join real sessions, not separate demo classes, so what your child experiences in the trial is exactly what the term would be like.

What it costs

Each provider sets their own trial price, and it is always shown before you book. Trial packs are discounted against the provider's usual per-session rate, so trying an activity through Trilo costs less than showing up and paying casually three times. There are no signup fees and no subscriptions for families.

Why providers like it too

It might look like providers lose out by discounting sessions, but the opposite is true. Empty spots in a class earn nothing. A trial family in that spot pays for it, and paid trial participants convert to long-term members at a far higher rate than casual walk-ins, because they have already invested in giving it a proper go.

Providers on Trilo keep 80% of every trial pack and get messaging tools, booking management and reminders included.

Who is behind Trilo?

Trilo was founded by a team of six Auckland students through the Young Enterprise Scheme. We are parents' kids, not a faceless corporation, and we built the platform after watching families around us waste money on terms their kids abandoned.
